Cat Carriers & Backpacks

17 products

Cat carriers and backpacks give your cat a defined travelling space for appointments and other outings. Compare the rolling carrier, enclosed carry bags and expandable backpacks. Choose around your cat’s size, handling preferences and the actual journey, rather than one universal idea of a travel bag.

Start with usable space

Your cat should be able to sit, turn and lie naturally inside the travelling configuration. Compare internal dimensions and the opening, not only the outside size or weight limit. The PetPacker backpack and wheeled designs offer different layouts.

Entry matters too

Think about how your cat tolerates entering a bag. The expandable PetPacker has several access openings, but introductions should still be gradual. Leave the carrier available at home before its first necessary journey, without forcing repeated loading attempts.

Modes have different purposes

The rolling carrier changes between wheeled and carrying arrangements. An expandable section provides rest space when set down, not extra room while worn. Check fasteners and the manufacturer’s intended mode before lifting or moving a loaded carrier.

Check the whole journey

Flights, vehicle travel and cycling each bring separate requirements. Cat car travel products and cat strollers address other parts of a trip. Do not assume a travel label establishes airline approval or crash testing.

More about Cat Carriers & Backpacks

Choose accessible openings

An opening that suits your handling method can make loading less awkward, but it does not make every cat comfortable. Compare the expandable backpack’s layout with other designs and allow practice in a quiet indoor setting. Close and check the carrier before leaving a secure room.

Keep air paths clear

Ventilation panels need unobstructed airflow throughout the journey. Do not stack bags against the mesh or wrap the entire carrier in a blanket. The rolling carrier combines mesh and a viewing window; both the actual conditions and your cat’s comfort still need monitoring rather than relying on a design label.

Two cats need planning

A combined load allowance does not mean two cats have enough space or will tolerate sharing. The double-compartment stroller has removable carrier sections that provide separate spaces. Assess each compartment independently and use only the lifting and carrying methods permitted for it.

Inspect moving components

On a wheeled carrier, check the wheel base and handle as well as the bag itself. Zips, straps, seams and internal attachments need regular attention. Follow the cleaning instructions for cushions and shells separately, dry them fully and stop using equipment with a damaged closure.

Cat carriers and backpacks: your questions answered

Still have a question?

How do I choose a cat carrier size?

Compare your cat’s body length and sitting height with the usable inside measurements and check the weight limit too. Use the closed carrying dimensions of the expandable backpack, not only the larger rest-pod footprint.

Is a backpack suitable for every cat?

No. Shape, handling and tolerance of movement all matter. Introduce a cat backpack gradually, and choose a different carrier layout if your cat cannot settle or fit comfortably.

Can I put two cats in one carrier?

Only if the product permits it, both cats have adequate usable space and they are comfortable together. The double-compartment model provides a separate alternative. Total weight alone does not confirm suitability.

Are all these carriers airline-approved?

No universal approval applies. Check the precise dimensions and design against your airline’s current requirements. A rolling carrier having removable wheels does not by itself make it acceptable on every flight.

Should I open the carrier to reassure my cat outdoors?

Keep the carrier closed in unsecured places. Choose a design with appropriate access and viewing panels, such as the expandable PetPacker, and follow its instructions for harness tethers and closures rather than risking an escape.
