Room for your dog

Measure your dog sitting and lying naturally, then compare the cabin rather than the outside frame. Larger folding strollers and compact models have different proportions. Extra bedding reduces usable room, so include it in the fit check.

One cabin or two?

The Detixy double stroller has two separate removable compartments. Check the limit for each compartment, not only the combined total. A shared cabin is a different choice and only works when both dogs fit and are comfortable together.

Know the conversion

Some models include removable carrier sections; others convert between walking and cycling. The large bike trailer has stroller functionality, while a standard pushchair cannot simply be attached to a bicycle. Check the supplied parts and instructions.

Start with a short trial

Introduce the cabin before a long outing, check closures and apply the brake while loading. Never leave your dog unattended. Dog carriers and backpacks are an alternative when carrying is more practical than manoeuvring wheels.

Choose for the route

Think about doors, kerbs, storage and the surface you will use. A folding pet stroller needs room both open and folded. Wheel design alone does not establish suitability for running or rough ground; use the activities specified for that exact model rather than guessing from its appearance.

Check access and handling

The entry opening affects how easily your dog can get in without awkward lifting. Compare the stroller with car mount and other layouts by opening position, cabin size and the weight you must lift. Any car-use feature must be fitted as instructed and is not proof of crash testing.

Keep conversions deliberate

With the double stroller, secure each removable compartment properly before use. For trailer conversions, check the wheel and handle arrangement for the selected mode. Do not transport an occupied detached compartment by an unsupported handle or fitting; use only the carrying methods described in its instructions.

Care after the outing

Remove loose dirt, inspect tyres or wheels and let cleaned fabric dry before folding. The Detixy stroller has separate cushion and shell care instructions. Recheck brakes, zips and attachment points regularly, particularly after storage or a mode change, and replace damaged parts before the next outing.

Is the maximum weight enough to choose a stroller?

No. Compare body length, sitting height and usable cabin width too. A dog can be below the load limit and still not fit comfortably. Read the cabin information for the larger folding stroller before choosing.

Can two dogs use a double stroller?

The Detixy double stroller provides separate compartments, each with its own load limit. Both dogs must fit their respective space; unused capacity in one compartment does not increase the allowance in the other.

Can every dog stroller become a bike trailer?

No. Choose a product specifically designed for both modes, such as the convertible bike trailer. A standard stroller does not acquire cycling compatibility through a generic attachment.

Is a stroller with a car mount crash-tested?

A stated car mount does not itself establish crash testing. The stroller with car mount describes its fitting method. Read that guidance and do not infer a safety certification that is not supplied.

Should I buy a stroller for a dog recovering from surgery?

Ask your vet whether that outing and the proposed cabin are appropriate for the recovery plan. A dog stroller is mobility equipment, not a treatment, and loading, position and duration may need individual advice.
