Dog Car Seats & Travel

26 products

Dog car seats and travel accessories solve several different jobs: a resting space, a washable barrier for muddy paws, a vehicle crate or a route into the boot. Compare a padded travel seat with a rear-seat cover, then choose around your dog and vehicle. Comfort features are not the same as verified crash protection.

Choosing dog car accessories

A padded seat or bed provides a defined resting area; a cover is primarily for the upholstery. The BingoPaws travel seat has raised sides and a removable cover, whereas the rear-seat protector spreads across the bench. Neither category name, padding nor an included clip establishes crashworthiness.

Check both sets of measurements

Measure your dog and the space in the car, including usable floor or seat width, the door opening and any sloping panels. The aluminium vehicle crate has single and double formats with different external dimensions. Confirm the intended installation and access arrangements; fitting into the boot is not by itself evidence of a secure installation.

Understand restraint claims

Look for documented testing of the exact restraint model, size and complete attachment configuration rather than relying on the words safety or heavy duty. Do not assume an extension tether improves crash performance or combine parts outside the manufacturer's instructions. A cover, booster or internal clip must not be presented as a substitute for an independently evaluated vehicle-restraint system.

Plan getting in and out

A foldable vehicle ramp addresses access, not protection during the journey. Check its support points, unfolded length, walking width and storage size against your vehicle. Set it up as instructed and introduce it calmly. For other access options, browse dog steps and ramps; store access equipment securely before driving.

Dog car travel: your questions answered

Still have a question?

Are all dog car seats crash-tested?

No crash-test status should be inferred from a collection label, an included clip or a product's shape. Check independent documentation for the exact model, size and attachment configuration. A padded travel seat can offer a resting space, but that is a separate claim from protection in a collision.

Does a seat-belt tether make any harness crash-safe?

Do not assume it does. A tether, harness, connector and vehicle fixing form a complete system, and adding or changing a part can change how it performs. Follow a tested manufacturer's exact configuration rather than assembling a crash-protection claim from separate accessories. Ask for independent, model-specific evidence before choosing a restraint for that purpose.

Will a raised seat stop my dog being car sick?

Do not rely on a raised seat as a treatment for nausea or travel distress. A padded car seat provides a particular resting layout, not a guaranteed medical or behavioural result. Speak to your vet if your dog is repeatedly sick or distressed, and choose travel equipment around the advice you receive.

How do I know a vehicle crate will fit?

Check the narrowest boot width, usable depth, height under the closed tailgate and door clearance, then compare those measurements with the exact crate size. The aluminium car crate has different single and double dimensions. Separately confirm the installation method and your dog's usable internal space; external fit alone is not enough.

Can a rear-seat cover restrain my dog?

No. A rear-seat protector is an upholstery accessory, even when it has straps or an anti-slip backing. Those features position the cover; they do not establish an animal-restraint system. Keep the required restraint fittings accessible and choose vehicle restraint equipment based on documented suitability for the complete setup.
