For Horses

Horse equipment earns its place by making the next groom, ride or stable round easier to organise. Explore grooming tools, saddle pads, halters, fly cover and practical yard accessories, including a complete horse grooming set and hay bags. Choose each item by its intended use and measurements, not by a general horse-size label.

Horse grooming kits

Keep the tools for coat, mane, tail and hooves together so you can see what is ready before a ride or outing. The complete grooming set includes brushes, a comb, hoof pick and scraper in a carry bag. Check the contents against your existing kit and use each tool only for the area it is designed for.

Fit the saddle setup

A saddle pad's outline, dimensions and thickness need to work with the saddle and the horse. The Quilvera dressage saddle pad has a dressage cut and quilted construction. It is not a remedy for an incorrectly fitted saddle. Ask a qualified saddle fitter if you are unsure about the complete setup or notice a change in comfort.

Choose fly cover carefully

A fly rug covers the body, while a fly mask with ear cover serves a different area. Compare the published measurements separately. Check the fitted item regularly for rubbing, damage and clearance around the eyes; a mesh design does not mean it can be left unchecked in every weather condition.

Practical stable accessories

Choose yard equipment around the actual fitting point and daily routine. Hay bags hold forage in a hanging fabric design, with straps and openings that need checking before use. Stable accessories do not replace a feeding plan or supervision. Confirm suitability with your yard professional when a horse's habits or stable arrangement create extra risks.

Compare measurements, not labels

Pony, cob and full are starting points rather than universal dimensions. Read the chart on the specific item and consider the finished fit, not just whether it fastens. The fly mask gives head measurements, whereas a fly rug uses body measurements. Do not transfer a size choice between those products.

Keep tack clean and dry

Hair, dust and damp fabric deserve attention between uses. Follow the care label rather than applying one washing method to all materials. The dressage saddle pad has its own washing guidance. Let cleaned tack and pads dry properly and inspect stitching, fastenings and contact surfaces before putting them back into use.

Plan for the whole yard

A useful accessory must suit both the horse and its surroundings. Before hanging a hay bag, assess the available space, fixing point and straps with a knowledgeable yard professional. Check the bag when filling it, and change the arrangement if the horse catches, paws at or persistently interferes with it.

Take the right tools

A portable kit is most useful when every tool has a place and you can spot a missing part before travelling. The horse grooming set keeps several tools together. Clean dirty tools before repacking and avoid sharing unclean equipment between horses. Hoof problems, unexplained soreness or changes in movement need appropriate professional attention.

Horse equipment: your questions answered

What belongs in a basic horse grooming kit?

Choose tools for the jobs you will perform: body grooming, mane and tail care, and routine hoof inspection under appropriate instruction. The complete horse grooming set lists each included brush and tool. Compare that list with your existing equipment, and learn the correct use of unfamiliar tools from an experienced professional.

Will a one-size fly rug fit my horse?

Not necessarily. One size describes the available product, not every horse. Measure as directed on the fly rug page, compare the published dimensions and assess freedom of movement and strap placement. Do not rely on breed alone, and do not keep using a rug that shifts, rubs or restricts normal movement.

Can a saddle pad fix a saddle-fit problem?

Do not choose a pad as a substitute for a fit assessment. The Quilvera dressage pad is a shaped textile layer, not a promise of corrected pressure or pain relief. Ask a qualified saddle fitter to assess the horse, saddle and pad together when fit or comfort is uncertain.

Is a fly mask the same size as a halter?

No. Use the measurements requested for the individual mask and check how it sits around the eyes, ears and jaw. The fly mask with ear cover has its own size guidance. A halter label or an old mask size is not enough to confirm that another design will fit.

What should I check before choosing a hay bag?

Check the bag size, opening, strap arrangement, intended location and your horse's behaviour. The hay bags are a hanging fabric design, so the finished installation matters as much as capacity. Ask your yard professional about a suitable setup, and keep checking the fabric and fastenings when you refill it.
